The Coldspring Newtown Community consists of several sub-neighborhoods: Click on the tabs below or on the colored spaces on the map to view each neighborhood's information.
Coldspring Condominium 1A was the first component of an architecturally designed Baltimore City community, consisting of 124 residences with many unique features, including enclosed parking and the separation of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The Coldspring community is centrally located and, while physically dense, it has a sense of space and privacy in a park-like setting with extensive landscaping. Coldspring New Town was originally conceived in the 1970's as a community in a park and a town within a town, and is one of Baltimores most innovative planned communities. Among it s most striking features are the deck houses which showcase the architectural styling of Moshe Safdie and Associates, and its abundant community spaces.

Coldspring 1-B consists of 128 units and was completed in 1982. These units followed the design of 1-A and were part of the overall "Coldspring Newtown" plan that originally called for a large "town within Baltimore City" of more than 2000 dwelling units. While the overall plan was not completed, these modern condominiums are a unique design in the region.

Several Memorial gardens, the Butterfly garden, and the Formal garden, complement the areas around the Mansion. The Garden of the Senses is waist height allowing physically challenged visitors to touch and smell the plants easily. The Children's Garden includes a schoolhouse and bell.
Two and a half miles of trails wind through the woodlands, where native plants and wildflowers may be studied. As an environmental conservation area, Cylburn's woodland trees, shrubs and native herbacious plants are protected in their natural habitat.
Cylburn's woods have been home for generations and generations of wildlife and for native and migrating birds. Birds and wildlife may be observed in this natural habitat. Cylburn offers beauty and serenity to her human visitors in an ever changing seasonal setting.
The Stone Mansion
The Stone Mansion (the original Ruscombe Mansion ca. 1863) is restored for use as offices. The building has been nominated for the Baltimore City Landmarks List, andis eligible for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places. These designations will ensure Ruscombe's perpetual existence.
Rehab began in the Spring of 2006, and included exterior work: stone pointing, roof repair, window and door restoration, replacement shutters, and painting. Inside, the remnants from the school use were removed, and original moldings, hardwood floors, historic trim and hardware were restored.
New HVAC was added, as well as modern data and electrical wiring. The original floor plan was maintained. In the yard, renovations included tree pruning, removal of "weed trees" particularly near Springarden Drive, fence repair, replacement or selective removal, garden and lawn improvement.
The carriage house was rehabbed and is available for rental, with 17 on site parking places provided basically on top of the existing blacktop area. New landscaping was added to screen the parking here as needed. It has always been our plan to make the Stone Mansion the centerpiece of the community.
Businesses in the Stone Mansion:
Various local business home offices, executive suites/ space available. For additional information, call (410) 367-5277.
Azola Companies
The Azola Companies have been providing cost effective solutions to tough rehab projects for over 35 years in Maryland. Attention to detail and quality in the field have always been the keys to success.

The Waldorf School of Baltimore educates children to think deeply, flexibly, and imaginatively. By bringing together the realm of thinking with the expressiveness of the arts, music, and movement, we foster the child's natural curiosity and sense of wonder while stimulating intellectual awareness. Within a protective and nurturing environment, teachers and staff work in partnership with parents to build a community in which each child's sense of responsibility and self-reliance unfold.
The Waldorf School of Baltimore provides an environment in which individuals become freethinking ethical beings able to discern possibilities as they respond to personal and societal challenges. Children pass through different stages of development. The curriculum, pace of the day, and extracurricular activities at Waldorf are all age-specific, based on a proven educational system used at Waldorf Schools around the world. The Waldorf program supports the development of an intellectual, ethical, and emotional foundation.
